Mammoth Lakes and Yosemite Vacation

July 26 – 31, 2017

Vernal Fall, the first major waterfall climbing the Mist Trail.  Due to the record snow this year, we were very lucky to experience these roaring waterfalls where normally this time of year they are just a trickle or completely dry.

I recorded this one with my DSLR camera and forget to unmute the mic so unfortunately there is no sound.  This is the very unusual sloped water flow between Vernal Fall and Nevada Fall.  For audio effect, it kinda sounded like SSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

As the camera pans from right to left:  Nevada Fall, Liberty Peak, Half Dome and at the very end way out in the distance is our final destination for the evening… Glacier Point where in the photos below you can get an amazing view of the Yosemite Valley carved by a massive glacier over 1000 feet high.

In the photo gallery below these videos, you will find a picture I took in the morning in front of our cabin where something sent one of the four garbage bins down the slope.  I figured it was a bear and the very next night when I went outside to grab a case of water from the car, the bear was back to finish the job of knocking over the remaining three bins (I guess his OCD is worse than mine), and I was fortunate to get him on video.  They have special latches that you have to reach into and upwards to open the doors which makes them bear-proof, but not entertaining-proof.

Tina took this video of the deer on her cell phone.  She was only about 10-15 feet away from it.

On the way home from Mammoth Lakes, they have a number of open ranges.  I saw a video online of cows enjoying music (although it was three guys using band instruments), and figured I’d see how much they like Survivor.  Because who doesn’t like Survivor?
